Have you thought about what it is like after you die?

Hebrews 9:27 (NASB 1995) “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,”

Many people don’t consider life beyond our human frame.  Many deny life beyond our human frame.  The Sadducees did, it is nothing new.

Perhaps you are one of those people who deny God, deny Jesus. For those of us that believe we acknowledge that you have that right.  For God has given you free will.

Some would want to deny us our right to believe.  Saul who later became the apostle Paul was a persecutor of Christians.  He wanted to strip early Christians of their right to believe. He imprisoned Christians and approved of putting them to death.

But Jesus met him on the road to Damascus and changed his mind.

For many of us who believe today God and Jesus his Son are phenomenal.  We believe that God with Jesus created all things and sustain all things.  He has ultimate authority.  We believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again.  He is currently seated at the right hand of the Father.  We believe he will come again.

Many have said I have not seen God.  We have sent men into space and spacecraft into deep space and yet there is no God in sight.  Christ said in John 6:46 New American Standard Bible 1995“46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.”

Why is this?   John 4:24 (NASB 1995) “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Genesis 1 New American Standard Bible 1995 “1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.”

When God created man he made him a threefold being comprised of body, soul and spirit.  Genesis 1:26-27 “26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the  sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”    At this point I believe He was referring to the spirit of man, since later in Genesis He formed man’s body.  Genesis 2:7 “Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

At physical death the body returns to the earth while the spirit returns to God.  2 Corinthians 5:8 New American Standard Bible 1995 “we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”

At the return of Jesus our spirit will be united with our new body.  Our complete being will live with Him forever.
