Many years ago the Lord gave the Israelites laws to live by. He did this for their wellbeing. Moses sought the Lord and YAWAH gave him the Ten Commandments. That was just the beginning of the laws they were to live by. But as humans they failed. God gave them a temporary means of forgiveness of sins. That was through the burnt offerings of unblemished, bulls, lambs, and goats.
Leviticus 16:29 “This shall be a permanent statue for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble our souls and not do any work, whether the native, or the alien who sojourns among you; for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to “cleanse you; you shall be clean from all your sins before the Lord.”
As time progressed God grew weary of this temporary ritual for the forgiveness of sins.
Isaiah 1:11 New American Standard Bible "I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fattened cattle; And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.”
Isaiah 1:13 New American Standard Bible “Do not go on bringing your worthless offerings, Incense is an abomination to Me. New moon and Sabbath, the proclamation of an assembly—I cannot endure wrongdoing and the festive assembly.”
God knew from the beginning that these temporary sacrifices for the forgiveness of sin would not ultimately work. Therefore, the Godhead decided that the Son (Jesus) would become the permanent sacrifice for all sin. This is reinforced in the words of Jesus in John 10:18 New International Version “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” Jesus had a choice He was not coerced into going to the cross to die for our salvation. He did it willingly out of His great love for us.
The temporary sacrifices of sin applied to the Israelites. The final sacrifice for sin (Jesus) brought remission of sin for all people who choose to believe.
