2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

1 John 4:18 KJV

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

1 John 4:10 KJV

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

People express fear in many ways. One is not to move out of a current, unpleasant situation, possibly one of torment because they are afraid of what will happen. They lack self-confidence and do not have a personal relationship with God who can help them through a transition.

The enemy belittles them and emotionally abuses them. If they could just muster up enough confidence in God to be assured, he will walk with them, just as he did the Israelites as they left Egypt.

It was unbelief and lack of faith in God that had the Egyptians wandering in the wilderness 40 years. That 40 years could have been considerably less if they had walked in faith. Have you been wandering in a wilderness for 2, 3, 5 or more years? Do you hate the wilderness? It is your choice to stay in the wilderness or move to the promised land. I remember a sign I once read that helped me move on “today is the first day of the rest of your life.”  I decided that with Gods help I could become the person he wanted me to be.

Another fear that comes when we lose a job and fear for not being able to take care of our families. I once worked with a lady that had lived through many difficult times. She shared with me that there would be days when she came to work and had no food, but that God always provided food for her. She never went hungry. God wants his people to have more than enough. The body of Christ is here to help. God’s Holy Spirit will often prompt others to be a help in time of need.

My daughter was on a mission trip to New York several years ago, and they were handing out food for the needy. One woman came up and they gave her food, she began to cry and said that if she hadn’t been able to get food for her family she had intended to go home and kill them, so they didn’t suffer.  God reached her in her hour of need. God is great and awesome. He is always on time in meeting our needs.

T.D. Jakes often has said “There are seasons in life some seasons are shorter than others.”  This may not be 100 percent of his quote if not it is a good paraphrase. The length of the season could possibly depend on your willingness to trust God. “God is love” 1 John 4:8 (KJV) and “There is no fear in love.” 1 John 4:18 (KJV)

If fear is holding you back from a better future, trust God and move forward. Ask God to give you faith to believe.

Dear God, please let people have a vision for their lives that is from you. Heal them in body, mind, and spirit. Give them faith to walk out the purpose you have for their lives and deliver them from fear.

Whom Shall I Fear by Chris Tomlin is an excellent song that addresses fear.
