Matthew 6:26  (KJV)

"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"

As a newborn Christian I had many questions about the faithfulness of God.  A friend pointed Numbers 23:19 (KJV) to me.    “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” I have found in daily life that God will not lie, and I can count on everything He has said.

Psalm 50:15 (KJV) states “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”

In my twenties I had pain in my right breast. My family physician was on vacation, so I went to another. He said I had a lump that needed to be checked out. While I was waiting for my family physician to return, I prayed for healing. Did I have doubt? Yes! But I wanted to believe. Then one day I was sitting in my car and the pain was severe, I told God that I believed He could heal me but please take away the pain. Immediately I felt heat from the top of my head all the way through my body to the souls of my feet. I then felt a kneading in my right breast. The pain went away. The following Monday I went to see my regular physician and he could not find a lump. He said, “You have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.”  I have never doubted Gods ability to heal again.

Psalm 86:7 (KJV)  “In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.”

In my first year of employment at a midwestern university I had not been told that staff did not get paid in December. Many years before the financial officer decided to give the employees a “bonus” by holding the December pay until January so they did not have to pay taxes on it that year. I never understood that logic. However, I did not get paid in December and our finances were tight. Christmas day I did not know how we were going to be able to put food on the table for the next week. I talked to God about it. My husband had entered a drawing and he “won” fifty dollars. That was just enough to get us by until my paycheck came in. God was faithful again.

Psalm 59:1 (KJV)   “Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.”

At another Midwest college I had come across several improprieties. Among them the incorrect awarding of student aid, incorrect billing, and various academic issues that did not conform to best practice. I had brought these issues to the attention of my supervisor, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and she began to investigate them. She was discharged, because another vice president who had the ear of the president felt threatened by her and he convinced the president she was not doing her job and should be discharged. I told her that I would do whatever I could to help her. The other vice president did not like me and was always putting me down and belittling me to others.

At the time students were upset about their financial aid and after not getting a satisfactory response from the administration they went to the local newspapers and television stations with their concerns. My boss had sought legal council and several employees were asked to help bring the issues to light for the Board of Trustees so they could help the students.

I was able to address the issues with boldness, thanks to God. I was able to supply proof to the president that the other vice president did not know what he was talking about. Still the president stood behind him. Ultimately the president resigned and a few weeks after that so did the vice president. The Board of Trustees not only listened to us “troublemakers” but had a meeting with all employees to listen to their concerns. They addressed all issues, appointed a new president, and worked to fix issues that were of concern to students.

God protected me through the entire process. He even gave me scriptures I could stand on letting me know that He was with me.

Psalm 18:17 King James Version (KJV)

“He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.”

Psalm 18:39 King James Version (KJV)

”For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.”

Psalm 20:1 King James Version (KJV)

“The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;”

God is more than able to help and deliver us from all our trials.
