In today’s world, especially the western world many people scoff at the thought of God. Many clearly deny His existence. Some just acknowledge they do not know if there is a God.

Many people are their own gods. They determine what is good and evil in their lives. They have no desire to search out God’s word and determine for themselves if He exists and if His revealed word which is recorded in the Bible is true. What is good is what feels good at the time, and what is evil is what displeases them at the time. For many there is no constant standard of good or evil.

If they acknowledge Him at all “14 “They say to God, ‘Depart from us! We do not even desire the knowledge of Your ways. 15 ‘[i]Who is [j]the Almighty, that we should serve Him, And what would we gain if we entreat Him?’ 16 “Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand; The counsel of the wicked is far from me. Job 21:14-16 NASB 1995

Many do not understand that Satan is blinding them from the truth:

“3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled [a]to those who are perishing, 4 in whose case the god of this [b]world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving [c]so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 New American Standard Bible 1995

There are many things they are blinded to but in this context, they are blinded to the fact that life is eternal. Once the body ceases to exist the spirit and soul live on. One day the spirit and soul will be united with a new eternal body.

“52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”  1 Corinthians 15:52-54 King James Version

For Christ followers they will reside with the Father and Jesus. For those that don’t follow Christ they will reside in hell.
