From the creation of Adam God communicated with man.  The earliest communication is recorded in “Genesis 2:15-18 King James Version “15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. 18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”

Then God created Eve.  She gave into the temptation of Satan by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Then she led Adam astray and he also ate.

“8 And they heard the [a]sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the [b]cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” 12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”  Genesis 3:8-13 New King James Version

So, sin entered the world by Satan’s deception of Eve.

God watched over man and chose to be close friends of Abraham, Noah, and Moses. Isaiah states “8 “But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend.”  Isaiah 41:8 King James Version

James also states: “23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” James 2:23 King James Version

“9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6:9 King James Version

As for Moses, God spoke to Moses as to a friend.  Moses, an imperfect human, God chose to lead His people out of Egypt. “11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. 12 And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.” Exodus 33:11-13 King James Version What did Moses mean by “consider that this nation is thy people”?  History tells us that Joseph the son of Jacob was in Egypt during a seven-year famine.  Jacob and his sons moved to Egypt during the famine so they would have sustenance and would prosper.  When a new pharaoh came to power not knowing who Joseph and his kinsmen where he made them slaves.  Jacob was Abraham’s grandson, and God had promised Abraham to make a great nation from him. “17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;” Genesis 22:17 King James Version

God had also said “6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 7:6 King James Version

From the day God made that declaration until today the descendants of the twelve tribes from Jacob’s lineage have been special to Yahweh. Through the years they were not obedient to his commands and would anger God.  The primary sin was following false gods (idols.) God allowed them to suffer the consequences of sin.  He allowed their dispersal throughout the nations, and He brought them back to their land.

“19 And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

20 And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they profaned my holy name, when they said to them, These are the people of the Lord, and are gone forth out of his land.

21 But I had pity for mine holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the heathen, whither they went.

22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the heathen, whither ye went.

23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.” Ezekiel 36:19-24 King James Version This was fulfilled May 14, 1948.

God still desires relationship with His people.  He has also extended his friendship to people not descended from the twelve tribes.  How did He do this?  “4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” Galatians 4:4-7 King James Version

Jesus became the ultimate and final sacrifice for sin. He died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later.  He ascended into heaven and will return.

Redemption from sin through the blood of Jesus now extends to gentiles.  “5 In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s [a]gracious choice. 6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer [b]on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace. 7 What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but [c]those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened; 8 just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, Eyes to see not and ears to hear not, Down to this very day.” 9 And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, And a stumbling block and a retribution to them. 10 “Let their eyes be darkened to see not, And bend their backs forever.” 11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous.”  Romans 11:5-11 New American Standard Bible 1995

When Christ ascended into heaven, the Father sent the Holy Spirit to indwell men, people that chose to follow Him. “16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16 King James Version This shows that God still seeks relationship with his people and that it is personal.

Currently Gods dwelling place is in the third heaven.  Man has not ventured close to it with space exploration.  Jesus is also there seated at the right hand of the Father waiting on Him to let him know it is time to return to earth. At the end of time, when God creates the new heavens and earth He will actually dwell with people.

At the culmination of time God will have attained His ultimate goal relationship with man.
