“24 The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.” Psalm 24:1-6 King James Version
In verse three it asks who can approach Yahweh. Verse four answers the question the one who has a “pure heart”, has not sought vain things, nor sworn untruthfully.
Christ followers are to “33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 King James Version “17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14:17 King James Version
Many do not desire to know God, some say He doesn’t exist. They do not know that their lives are futile, bound to the captivity of meaningless things, in bondage to hurt, pain, bitterness, and anger. They seek to alleviate emptiness in their lives for “fun” which is short lived. After their last incursion with fun, they must seek another and another to fill the void in their lives.
Some of this “fun” is gained through sexual encounters, drinking and taking drugs. When the sexual encounter is done and the drinking over what do they have? Taking drugs and alcohol can harm the body, even kill it. At the point of death what is there?
The Bible discusses two deaths. With the first death the body goes to the grave. For the Christ follower death ends with the body going to the grave and the spirit entering the presence of God. The second death is reserved for non-believers. What is the second death” “11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” Revelation 2:11 King James Version
“14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” Revelation 20:14 King James Version
“8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 King James Version
“10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 King James Version
“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 King James Version
Both the Old and New Testaments address who can stand before God. It is the person who has a pure heart, one seeking after the will of God and not following the world.
Under the Old Covenant sacrificial offerings of animals were made for the atonement of sin.
The New Covenant was put in place by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He became the final sacrifice for sin. His death reconciled believers to God the Father.
Believers today have the benefit of the Holy Spirit residing in them. He guides them and leads them into all truth. He convicts the world of sin.
Jesus will return one day to judge all. At judgement some will have to experience the second death due to the choices they made on earth.
You say this won’t happen. For this was said thousands of years ago and He hasn’t returned.
“9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version
Today you have a choice to make that will impact your eternal destiny. What will your choice be?
